Cadet Defends Email

The Air Force Academy Cadet who sent an email containing religous quotes to fellow cadets says didn't mean to create any problems.

Former Wing Commander and now 2nd Lt Nicholas Jurewicz sent the email Tuesday evening.

11 News has obtained a copy of the email, which contains more than 300-quotes, two dozen of which are religous based. The email also quotes Abraham Lincoln, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gen. George S. Patton, and the rock band Pink Floyd. Among the religous quotes: "But they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles (Isaiah 40:31)."

Jurewicz tells 11 News he was simply trying to leave words of encouragement to his fellow graduates and underclassmen. He had no idea the email would cause controversy.

Asked if he would send the email knowing what he knows now, Jurewicz says he may have left the quotes out all together.

A school spokesman said Wednesday officials will investigate to determine whether Jurewicz violated military or academy policies.
