Murder-Suicide in Residential Neighborhood

Updated: Thu 2:11 PM, Dec 12, 2002

Three people were shot to death and another was injured in an apparent murder-suicide in a residential neighborhood.

A gunman burst into a house in southeast Colorado Springs on Wednesday night and shot three of the four people inside, killing two and injuring a third before he turned the revolver on himself, police said.

A man and woman who police said appeared to be in their 40s were found dead in the bedroom of the home. Another woman was found elsewhere in the house and underwent surgery Wednesday night. Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The gunman was found shot to death outside the house with a revolver underneath him, said Colorado Springs Police Lt. Skip Arms.

Police said they knew of a possible motive for the shooting, but didn't want to reveal it or the victims' names until they had notified relatives, Arms said.

A teenage boy also in the home at the time but was uninjured, Arms said.”He's pretty traumatized, from all I was told,'' Arms said
