Residents living near cottonwood creek ... and monument creek are being asked to stay away from the water.
Colorado Srings Utilities says vandalism to a manhole near Austin Bluffs and Dublin caused about 26-thousand gallons of waste water to enter these creeks.
The manhole was found to be filled with large rocks.
Clean up began this morning but as a health precaution, colorado springs utilities is warning residents:
Don't allow children or pets to play in th water.
If you do come in contact with the water, wash frequently with soap and water.
If you are exposed to the water and have open wounds, contact a physician.
