A state charge has been filed against the former U.S. Forest Service worker who admitted starting Colorado's worst-ever wildfire.

A charge of fourth-degree arson was filed Wednesday against Terry Lynn Barton in Teller County District Court. The charge covers damage done to private property by the 137,000 acre Hayman wildfire. It destroyed 133 homes and one business this summer.

Last week, Barton pleaded guilty to federal charges for setting fire to federal forest land and lying to investigators. The plea calls for a 6-year prison term. On state charges, Barton faces up to 12 years in jail.

Barton is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6.
