More than three-thousand people are expected to attend the funeral today for a Denver police detective who was killed over the weekend.
Forty-three-year-old Donald Young was killed and 35-year-old John Bishop was shot Sunday while providing security outside a private party. Police are searching for 19-year-old Raul Garcia-Gomez, who may be in California or Mexico.
Young's funeral Mass will start at 10:30 a-m at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Denver. Afterward, there will be a procession to Fort Logan National Cemetery in southwest Denver, where Young will be buried.
Police officers from throughout Colorado and surrounding states are expected to attend.
At the Mass, Denver Police Chief Gerry Whitman will pay homage to Young, a father of two girls and a 12-year veteran of the department.
Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput (shuh-PEW') will be the main celebrant.
