The city manager of Colorado Springs has ordered an investigation into the police shooting of five buffalo.
Police fired up to 120 rounds in a residential neighborhood to kill the buffalo that escaped Monday from a G and C Packing Company slaughterhouse.
Authorities said the three officers and one slaughterhouse employee shot the buffalo one by one when they charged.
Bullets struck nearby homes and at least one parked car, but the houses had been evacuated and no one was hurt.
Company officials say the animals escaped because a delivery driver didn't back up close enough to an unloading chute. But Booth and Sons Trucking officials say the driver did nothing wrong.
