A substitute teacher faces a felony charge of solicitation for child prostitution after allegedly offering money to a student in exchange for sex.

Lloyd Clark was arrested Thursday at his home without incident. He later was released on $10,000 bail.

When reached at his home Friday, the 73-year-old Clark said he's speechless and the allegations apparently stem from a misunderstanding.

Clark said he taught for 40 years and has been a substitute teacher for 11 years.

The incident allegedly happened at Wasson High School in Colorado Springs School District 11.

Ok, well I posted on the other article. The updated one, but ill do this one as well. I dont know how you can possibly say "he cant do this" Anyone can... The only hting that bothers me, is that he could face up to life in prison. I am a freshman boy at wasson, but im not going to say who I am for legal reasons. But I just want to get the word out that anyone can do anything. Any age or weight, or wtvr.

I am on his side I have had him 4 times since High School he has not done anything to make me or my friend uncomfortable The Person that said he did this was lying to get money or what not just like the Wendy's incident 2 years ago. Gramps is innocent

Posted by: Anonymous on Mar 5, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I dunno... nearly EVERYBODY from Wasson can vouch for his innocence. That freshman punk is goin down.

Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 25, 2008 at 01:17 PM
HOw do you know everyone is on gramps side. You can't speak for everyone. I for one am not on Gramps side. So speak for youself not everyone else

Posted by: anonymous Location: ? on Feb 25, 2008 at 01:15 PM
So everyone thinks he is not guilty becasue they love him so much.. butwhat if that is clouding their vision of what really happened. And everybody hates this certain kid that brought out these alligations... what if he is telling the truth and everyone is letting their love for Gramps blind them. So we shouldn't go around saying that this kid is a liar and hate him. So maybe we should remove the blinders from our eyes and actually look at the facts!!

Posted by: s Location: c springs on Feb 23, 2008 at 04:01 PM
I personally think that all of you guys that keep saying "oh free gramps" bla bla bla are the ones who need help, you dont know what the truth is, just because he was sooooo nice doesnt mean anything at all anyone can be capable of a crime like this...if he is really innocent then great and yea thats too bad that that kid lied about it but until we find out I dont think anyone should be passing judgment. And if he did really do it and they can prove it and they have hard evidence then it just prooves that ANYONE is capable of this type of crime, and he shouldnt get away with it just cause he was a good teacher or good with the students or sooo nice....it dont matter!

GRAMPS HAD NO NEED FOR IT AND I HOPE THE KID WHO SAID THAT KNOWS HE RUINED ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE EVER. AND JUST TO LET THE KID KNOW EVERYONE IS ON GRAMPS SIDE SO GOOD LUCK GETTING FRIENDS AFTER THIS ONE.

Gramps is one of the best people I have ever meant. And when he's proven innocent, I really hope the media makes such a big deal about a kid lieing and ruining a mans reputation as they are now. Free Gramps!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 20, 2008 at 12:23 PM
Free Gramps!!! He's the greatest man anyone could ever meet. He would never do such a thing. The lies will unfold, and he's name will be cleared. The victim is not the lieing student, but Gramps himself. What goes around comes around, and I can hardly wait to see what the student's lies brings to himself/herself.

first of all i was a neighbor of "gramps" for numerous years and he was nothing but great to my kids. now he has been a sub for my kids at wasson. everyone is in shock that he could be accused of such a thing. i don't think gramps could do such a thing. so sad.

Posted by: jordan Location: doherty high school on Feb 19, 2008 at 09:24 PM
Gramps is the best sub any of us have ever had, and all the students would agree, we all love Gramps and this accusation is complete bogus. Gramps is a great guy and no way would he ever do something like that.

Posted by: Jennifer Location: Wasson Parent on Feb 19, 2008 at 06:42 PM
My son attends Wasson and was in shock when he was telling of this beloved teacher being accused of a sex crime. I pray for his innocence in this situation and the innocence of the child that was involved. It is nice that he has the support of so many students. I pray that this was not a malicious act against him or the child and that the truth will set them both free.

"Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 17, 2008 at 12:43 AM You shouldn't assume he's innocent just because you know him. I had him as a substitute too. The truth is, you don't know what people are capable of." Yes you should!! It is innocent until proven guilty in this country. No one seems to remember that.

Posted by: Marci Location: Wasson on Feb 17, 2008 at 08:00 PM
I'm so glad that he has so many supporters. I've only had him once as a sub, but I am a friend of his granddaughters and I am extremely confident when I say that he isn't capable of committing such a terrible offense. I hope the truth is uncovered and justice is served by whoever it was that accused Gramps.

Posted by: Christina Location: Wasson High School on Feb 17, 2008 at 06:06 PM
I am a student at wasson and gramps has been my sub on many occasions. i find it very very hard to believe that he would do something like this. i have never met a student that didnt like gramps and they had no reason to. He always joked around with the students, told jokes and brought food. you could also relate to him on many levels becasue he actualy cared to get to know the students. Anyone who really knows gramps knows this is a mistake. free gramps!

Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 17, 2008 at 02:25 AM
"Gramps"and i were close friends outside of subbing he would tutor me and help me with many things, he never did anything wrong or offensive he has a kind heart and doesn't deserve this. I hold him in high esteem as well and know in my heart that it was just a misunderstanding.

Posted by: student Location: colorado springs on Feb 17, 2008 at 12:49 AM
I only had gramps sub once or twice in one of my classes at doherty. He seemed like a nice guy, but nice guys can be bad too, but honestly i dont know what to believe. I'm stunned and still in a state of shock.

Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 17, 2008 at 12:43 AM
You shouldn't assume he's innocent just because you know him. I had him as a substitute too. The truth is, you don't know what people are capable of.

Posted by: ROGER Location: DIST # 11 on Feb 16, 2008 at 07:08 PM
IF HE IS CLEARED, I HOPE THE MEDIA WILL COVER IT WITH AS MUCH ZEAL AS WHEN HE WAS ACCUSED.

my girls attend or have attended Wasson and are very disbelieving this could really have happened. They respect "gramps"! They hold him in high esteem. We will support the family with our love and prayers. I hope this is one time justice will not be blind, but recognize the party that has done wrong.

Posted by: anonymous on Feb 15, 2008 at 07:30 PM
Gramps is the most understanding and down to earth sub Wasson has ever had. He always brought a treat for any class he subed for. He is always there if a student needed some one to talk to and always had a funny story to tell from the golden years. How anyone could think this about him is beyond me!

Posted by: Millie Location: Wasson on Feb 15, 2008 at 07:20 PM

Hey, that man tought me! He is probably the the most demanded substitute teacher at Wasson High School. Everybody calls him "Gramps" at his request. I can name no student that doesn't celebrate when they hear that Gramps will be the substitute teacher. I'd be willing to testify for him in Open court. Gramps would never do anything like that. as a wasson high school group of students, we find that this man is innocent! there's no way that he could have done something like that! he relates to the students by telling jokes, and just getting along with us. NO WAY!

Posted by: Aubrey Location: Colorado springs on Feb 15, 2008 at 03:37 PM
gramps could not have done this he is the best substitute teacher ever

Posted by: Austin Location: Doherty High School on Feb 15, 2008 at 02:11 PM
LLoyd Clark has substituted many times at our school, he is a fun and life-loving man. He tells jokes and gives out candy, he brightens all of our days. whatever is happening must be a misunderstanding, I couldn't see Gramps doing something like this. And I know thousands of other teens that would agree

Posted by: Amber Location: Colorado springs on Feb 15, 2008 at 01:47 PM
Its not fair that gramps is in trouble and being put through so much trouble and saddness because some person wants to lie and say that he offered money to them for sex. Gramps is the nicest funniest coolest sub our school has ever had. He likes to joke around and make it known hes joking, but i highly doubt that gramps would ever joke about sex but i dont know anything about the students at wasson. people think its funny to joke about things like that but its not and i know that gramps didnt do it. we love gramps like our own grand fathers. Gramps would tell us stories and give us candy and just kinda give us a laied back environment to relax a little. he has never been anything but professional. hes a great husband to his wife and a great father and a great grandfather, why would he risk losing everything he loves in his life for something like sex with the students he cares about. Gramps doesnt deserve to be treated this way. He looks so sad in the picture and i bet hes sad in life.

Posted by: Devin Location: Colorado Springs on Feb 15, 2008 at 01:47 PM
I am a student at Doherty High School and im outraged by this acusation. Lloyd Clark is a respectable teacher, father, friend, and husband who would never do anything to hurt or endanger a child. and to say that he was asking a boy for sex with payment is apauling. He is a guy who oves to tell jokes and what he said was probably just that. You can not acuse Gramps for doing this because his jokes are not to get out of hand. he jokes about everything and when somebody gets offended for one he apoligizes for it. Plus to have a ten thousand dollar bail out is completely absurd. a "crime" like that should not be that much. So i say that all charges should be dropped against Gramps because he has done nothing but enlighten the kids that he teaches. Also he is a 73 year old man with a wife so why would he need to ask a little boy for anything when he already has a good life. I dont think that a man as good as he is would want to jepordize a great life. The crime is the kid who would say that.
