A big change could be on the way for one of Pueblo's elementary schools. District 60 board members will vote on a proposal to convert Bessemer Academy Elementary into a charter school.
A few years ago Bessemer was one of the lowest performing schools in Colorado. But since then, it has made a dramatic turnaround.
Board members say they have a big decision to make. They say money is a big part of the issue, but so is fairness. The board says they want to make sure they're spending money for all the children.
If Bessemer is turned into a charter school, it could be eligible for more government and private grant money.
