They weren't home on the range, but five buffaloes got to roam -- briefly -- today after escaping from a meatpacking plant.
The buffalo managed to get out when a truck driver didn't park his truck in the delivery chute properly. Instead of fleeing, they began grazing in a yard.
Authorities cordoned off several blocks. Police along with staff of the G & C Meatpacking Plant shot the buffalo when they got too close to a fence.
The plant's owner, Frank Grindinger, says it's the second time buffalo had briefly escaped because of an improper delivery.
