Light snow will stick around for the first half of the afternoon, with bands of moderate to heavy snow possible by the second half of the afternoon and evening. Friday we see snow wind down but the cold hangs on with temperatures only in the teens and wind chill values below or near zero for most of the day. Low-income families will be getting some help with their high heating bills.
Governor Owens signed two bills to help people who have trouble paying to heat their homes.
Senate Bill One will create an easy process for gas and electric utility customers to contribute to the Energy Outreach Colorado, which supports the Low-income Energy Assistance Program.
The second bill, Senate Bill 20, will put an additional $7.6 million into the program.
The funds will come from the state's mineral and energy severance taxes.
