Colorado Snow

More snow is headed to Colorado weekend, good news for the dozens of ski resorts already open and a promising sign that the state's record-setting drought has bottomed out. It doesn't mean the drought is over, though, and experts warn that conservation measures likely will be necessary again next spring and summer. Heavy snow at the end of October and again in November has raised snowpack levels above the average for this time of the yearin most river basins. It also has enabled some resorts to open early. This weekend Beaver Creek, Steamboat and Monarch opened daily operations. Most other resorts will be open by Thanksgiving, and some are reporting their deepest early season bases in five or more years.
