School Board President Raises a Stink

The publisher of a Cheyenne Wells newspaper says she'll leave a pile of horse manure on the counter until the man who put it there returns to clean it up.

The president of the Cheyenne County school board allegedly dumped the manure there because he was upset about a critical newspaper article. Range Ledger Publisher Joyce Escudero says she plans to press charges against board president Sam Mitchek.

Escudero says Mitchek was upset about an article she wrote in yesterday's paper in which she reported the public was denied the right to comment at a school board meeting. She said Mitchek came in Wednesday afternoon and dumped a five-gallon bucket of manure that spilled onto the counter, the floor, and her son, Gary.

Escudero says she hopes the dispute is settled soon because flies are starting to hover.
