The University of Colorado's new athletic director calls C-U "a diamond that needs to be polished up a little."
School officials introduced Mike Bohn Wednesday as the permanent replacement for former Colorado A-D Dick Tharp, who resigned in November.
Bohn acknowledged problems within the athletic department that led to the departures of Tharp, plus the C-U-Boulder chancellor and the university president; but said the tradition of the institution made the opportunity "viable."
44-year-old Bohn is a Boulder native and graduate of Boulder High School. He leaves a similar position at San Diego State University.
Prior to that, he'd worked in college athletics at Idaho, Air Force and Colorado State, and also worked for the College Football Association from 1992 to 1995.
