Students Arrested

Trinidad police say 18-year-old and 16-year-old threatened to launch a Columbine-style attack at Trinidad High School.

Eighteen-year-old Joel Vasquez and the 16-year-old whose name wasn't released allegedly made threats on an Internet chat room.

They also may have sent e-mails threatening students and the school.

Vasquez is a student at Trinidad, but the juvenile is doing is course work online.

Two students discovered the threats and told a school counselor, who informed police. Trinidad High School was on lockdown Nov. 7 as a precaution.

Police say the 16-year-old said he and Vasquez sent the e-mails as a joke.

Vasquez is being held in Las Animas County Jail on $1,500 bail and the juvenile in being held at Pueblo Youth Detention Center.
