Teen Driver Bill

Getting a note from a parent won't get new teen drivers off the hook under a bill being considered at the state Capitol.

The bill is aimed at cutting down on teenage traffic crashes. Drivers who've had their license for less than a year wouldn't be able to drive during the overnight hours. They also wouldn't be able to drive other teens around, unless they're brothers and sisters.

Members of the House had changed the bill to exclude any teen who got a note from their parent but today representatives of the House and Senate said that wasn't strong enough. They got rid of that exception and the bill would apply to all new drivers.
