Republican Gov. Bill Owens has raised nearly $6 million for his re-election campaign. His opponent, Democrat Rollie Heath, raised $1.2 million heading into the final week before the Nov. 5 election.
Heath says he raised more than $73,000 for the reporting period from October 10th through Oct. 23. Owens says he raised nearly $6 million from 8,700 different donors, including more than $262,000 during the two-week period. As of Wednesday, Owens still had $1 million in the bank.
The most money raised was in 1994. Democrat Governor Roy Romer's re-election fight against Denver oilman Bruce Benson cost $9.3 million.
