President Bush says the credit for Tuesday's G-O-P victories goes to the party's candidates, not him.
At a broadcast news conference, he said he doesn't see the election outcome in personal terms, even though he stumped in 23 states and raised record amounts of cash, and many of those candidates say he made the difference.
In fact, even though the GOP reclaimed full control of Congress, he says he's not sure there's a mandate for his policies.
However, Bush said he's certain there's a mandate for Democrats and Republicans to work together.
Bush says he's pleased with the election outcome. But he added: “Sometimes you win 'em, and sometimes you lose.”
