Mountain operations chief Alan Henceroth says A-Basin has received two feet of snow this month, more than how much fell last spring in April and May combined.

This weekend crews battled freshly fallen snow to make the final connections on the water-pumping and freezing system.

Henceroth said the heavy snow has been an inconvenience to crews, but they'll take any snow they can get.

The area has relied on natural snow since opening in 1946. It is installing a snowmaking system in hopes of being able to stay open until July 4 each year.
