Prison Murder Motive

(Limon-AP) -- An inmate accused of killing a prison worker did
so because he wanted to be transferred to another jail.
That's according to an affidavit released yesterday.
Corrections officials say Edward Montour Junior wielded a
kitchen ladle to randomly kill Eric Autobee -- a worker at a state
prison in Limon. The attack occurred on Friday.
The affidavit says Montour's homemade knife had been found on
another inmate and that he didn't want to risk having inmates think
he had ratted out another convict.
The 35-year-old prisoner allegedly decided he needed to kill a
staffer so he would be moved to another facility.
Autobee was the first prison employee to be killed in the line
of duty since 1929. A funeral Mass was held this morning at Saint
Joseph Catholic Church in Pueblo.
