Another 100 or so Fort Carson-based soldiers were set to leave Colorado starting Thursday in a deployment to the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility.
The troops are part of the 571st Medical Company-Air Ambulance.
Fort Carson officials would not release the exact times or location of the unit's departure because of security concerns.
The 571st provides Corps level medical evacuation support during deployments, and transports emergency personnel, equipment and supplies to areas in need.
It's not known where, or how long, the troops will be deployed.
CENTCOM's area of responsibility reaches from the Horn of Africa to Central Asia.
CENTCOM is headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.
