A Southern Colorado boarding school is working closely with local and state health officials to clean up a sewage spill.
Two weeks ago, the main service line backed up at Fountain Valley School of Colorado causing raw sewage to flow out of three nearby manholes.
The Widefield Community Park has been affected by the spill. A large area of the park is contaminated. Lime has already been sprayed on the area to kill pathogens and mitigate the odor. But, workers still need to remove the contaminated soil and bring clean Soil in.
The spill happened the day students left for winter break. And school officials say they won't be affected when they return to class on Tuesday.
