Folks all around Colorado will be ringing in the new year in just a couple of days and a lot of you might be celebrating by drinking.

Some of you will be celebrating at home or at a friends house while others will be having a good time at some of the local bars. Police want you to be careful.

Celebrators in the downtown area will be taking advantage of the ball that will drop from the Antler's Hotel with fireworks following the drop. But while you're out having a good time, remember police in your area are cracking down. Do make sure all you celebrators do the right thing by having a designated driver.

Colorado Springs Police Officer, Jon Gustafson said, "You can get a pretty good feel as to whether somebody is under the influence as you walk up to them while they're sitting in their car."

Bartenders, like the ones at Thirsty Parrot in Colorado Springs, will be on the lookout too. Bartender, Chris Maddox said, "Our staff is trained to know the signs if you're over intoxicated and what the legal limit is."

You can get a free cab ride on New Year's Eve from 10pm to 4am, courtesy of the McDivitt Law-firm by calling 777-7777, for a yellow cab. However, it doesn't work if you're trying to get from bar to bar, only if you need a ride home.

Also, don't be afraid to leave your car parked near the bar where you're celebrating. Most banks and all parking garages in the downtown Colorado Springs area will allow you to leave your car for up to 24 hours without worrying about getting ticketed or towed. Plus, you can leave your car parked in front of a meter until 8:00am the next morning.

The law firm doesn't even have to pay for it, but they are-I guess Marty and Randy prove that no matter what or how much you try to give, it's never enough. Hey, i'm thankful for it and will be using it tonight!

What about the other 364 days of the year?

Or any of the other 364 days of the year for that matter.
