The Springs City Council will take up a controversial issue during their meeting on Monday.

The contract for El Paso County's ambulance service, American Medical Response, or AMR, is up for re-negotiation.

Some council members want to see improved response times and want to have more input in overall procedures and costs.

In June, the price of an emergency call increased by $17. AMR says the rate hike was necessary because Medicare is paying less for emergency transport.
