The Transportation Security Administration has deployed 77 more federal screeners at western Colorado airports. Twenty will go to Montrose County Airport, 35 to Walker Field at Grand Junction and 22 to the Gunnison County Airport. The T-S-A's acting undersecretary for security says the agency is on target to deploy federal screeners to the nation's 429 airports by November 19th. The federal government took over responsibility for security at airports after the 2001 terrorist attacks exposed weaknesses in the privately run system. More than two hundred federal screeners began working at Denver International Airport on September 10th. Up to one thousand screeners will eventually work at D-I-A.
