Grief counselors returned to a Pueblo school Wednesday after a fourth-grade student collapsed along a half-mile run during physical education class, and died.
Officials say nine-year-old Sydney Boettcher was running with classmates at Ben Franklin Elementary School Tuesday when she fell just before noon.
The girl's teacher performed CPR until paramedics arrived and rushed her to a hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Pueblo County Coroner Dr. James Kramer says Sydney died of heart disease, but her parents and school officials say they were unaware of any health problems. Kramer is awaiting results of additional tests before releasing other details.
Principal Keith Johnson says Sydney was an honor student, and was well-liked.
