Wintry Weather Hits Colorado

A winter storm is hitting Colorado Tuesday and Wednesday, making for very difficult travel problems across much of the state. On Tuesday evening, I-25 was closed for a while north of Monument because of numerous accidents. The northbound lanes reopened around 5 p.m. and the southbound lanes reopened shortly after 6 p.m.

The storm also dumped up to eleven inches of snow in the mountains and forced early dismissals at schools in northeastern Colorado.

Ice and blowing snow in Weld County and wintry weather in rural districts in Logan, Washington and Yuma counties prompted schools to dismiss students early.

In Aspen, there is about a foot of snow on the top of Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass.

Meanwhile transportation officials say traffic on Interstate 70 is slow on both sides of the Eisenhower Tunnel.
