Our next storm arrives Sunday... cloudier morning skies and scattered showers make way for more widespread rain by the afternoon... snow for the higher elevations and mountains. Sunday evening into Monday morning offers the best window for locally heavy rain and snow. The mountains will see significant snow. Rain and snow chances continue into Monday as the system exits Monday night... head over to the "Weather" tab for more information.
Former U-S Attorney John Suthers was sworn in as Colorado's new Republican attorney general Tuesday.
The state Senate confirmed Suthers' nomination on Friday. He won easy approval, even though Democrats control both chambers of the Legislature for the first time in more than 40 years.
Governor Owens had nominated Suthers to replace Salazar after the former attorney general won election to the United States Senate. Suthers is the former district attorney for El Paso and Teller counties, and a former director of the state corrections department
One of his first acts -- even before taking the oath of office -- was to hire Jeanne Smith, the most recent district attorney for El Paso and Teller counties.
She'll head the criminal justice section of Suthers' office.
