Analysts predict a ten percent decline in third-quarter sales
when compared with a year ago results.
Industry observers blame weak customer demand, a poor regional
economy and a continued fiber-optic capacity glut.
Officials at Denver-based Qwest say the company can't comment on
its third-quarter earnings -- which are expected to be released
near the end of this month.
Qwest has 56-thousand employees -- down from 72-thousand from
two years ago.
