Pentagon Computer Model

Researchers at the Heritage Foundation -- a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. obtained the computer modeling software from the Defense Department and simulated various scenarios.

One simulation assumed terrorists in a small airplane release 440,000 of military-grade powdered anthrax over downtown Denver.

The simulation showed over the next 24 hours the spores would blow 126 miles eastward and expose more than 812,000 people and it assumed if no one was treated medically about half a million would die.

Threat assessment specialist Dexter Ingram demonstrated the modeling at a homeland security conference in Colorado Springs and says it's one of the tools experts use to assess threats.
