Holiday Shopping

Colorado retailers are stocking up and getting ready for the post-Thanksgiving rush.

There are early signs of optimism, such as an increase in temporary hiring. For the first time in three years, retail stores have returned to normal hiring levels. Still many shoppers remain cautious amid worries about the economy and their own jobs.

The weekend after Thanksgiving is viewed as the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season with many stores opening up early to draw the crowds with sales on popular items.

Friday and Saturday sales will provide good benchmarks, but the busiest shopping days typically fall on Saturdays closer to Christmas.
