State Attorney General

The governor's pick to replace Ken Salazar as attorney general has cleared his first hurdle at the state Capitol.

The Senate Judiciary Committee today unanimously backed the nomination of former U-S Attorney John Suthers. The full Senate is expected to vote on whether to back Suthers sometime this week.

Those who spoke out against Suthers' nomination included supporters of the three nuns his office prosecuted for trespassing at a missile silo in northern Colorado -- and the lawyer for a man who had his medical marijuana seized by federal authorities.
