Experts are trying to determine what is slowing the flow of the mineral springs in Manitou Springs and causing the water's trademark fizz to fizzle. Town officials are worried the long-cherished springs could be drying up.

Seven wells pump a combined 100 gallons of the water a minute from an aquifer a mile underground. The water is believed to be good for the skin, arthritis and other ailments.

The Manitou Springs Mineral Foundation has hired the U.S. Geological Survey to study the problem. In a few weeks, high-tech video cameras will be dropped into the wells to look for leaks.
