Prosecutors will ask Monday that a retired Air Force sergeant suspected of killing a Montana girl in 1988 be returned to Great Falls to face formal charges of deliberate murder and tampering with evidence.

Sixty-two-year-old Wilfred “Bill” Morrisey stands accused in the shooting death of Dolana Clark, who disappeared in August of that year. A hunter discovered the body of the nine-year-old girl in the Little Belt Mountains 14 months later.

Police believe Clark rode her bicycle to Morrisey's house the day she disappeared to ask him for money she needed to buy a Siamese cat.

Morrisey left town three months after the girl disappeared and moved to Weston, a one-road town in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristos. Investigators only recently caught up with Morrisey after authorities decided last month to take a fresh look at the case.
