Methamphetamine awareness day is today--November 30th.
This afternoon, children at the Boys and Girls club in Pueblo learned about the dangers of taking drugs.

A Pueblo Police officer and his four-legged partner visited the Boys and Girls club of Pueblo to explain how useful dogs can be when fighting the growing problem of Methamphetamine.

Meth is only one of four drugs the German Shepherd can detect.
The kids were in awe to see, and hear, how these crime-fighting dogs scratch and paw at the places they find hidden drugs.

"Although some of the things they're seeing are very scary, there's nothing thats not factual about what we're telling them," says Chief Jim Billings, Pueblo Police.

The children learned they need to be aware of whats going on in their surroundings.

"Threre's a new form of meth called candy meth, and looks similar to Pop Rocks. Its flavored. Pretty scary that it seems they're marketing to kids," says Becky Medina, Boys' and Girls' Club.

And parents today learned that teaching these valuable lessons starts in the home.

There are a lot of resources available. The Boys' and Girls' club recommends going through your local law enforcement agency for more information on saying no to drugs.
