Cirque Du Soleil is in Colorado Springs this week for the first time ever. We got a chance to go behind the scenes of the acrobatic traveling show.

The artists in this show are extremely talented and most have been in training for years. The cast is also extremely diverse, from a total of 20 different countries.

“Most of them have been athletes their entire lives and they've been with Cirque since they were 13 or 14," said M.J. Gagnon, Publicist for Cirque.

For artists like Zibi Bachor, it’s a way of life.

"Every week we are in a different city," said Zibi.

He has been with Cirque longer than any other performer, since 1995.

He specializes in the art of Chinese poles. A discipline that requires perfect concentration as artists jump from pole to pole 25 feet in the air. Practicing can be tedious and on the day of a show this group spends hours, going up and down.

"We start around 11am in the morning," said Zibi.

And entertaining with color, lights and music is what they do best.

One other interesting thing we learned backstage is all the artists are responsible for putting on their own make-up, which can take up to an hour and a half to complete.

Cirque has three more performances at the World Arena. One Friday night at 7:30pm and Saturday at 3:30pm and 7:30pm.

Doors open one hour prior to show time.

Tickets are on sale at all TicketsWest locations including all Front Range King Soopers and select City Markets.
