Snow is expected to develop for our Monday afternoon and overnight hours. Bands of heavier snow are possible..and something we will be monitoring throughout the day today. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Watch for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. Would you pay a toll to go through the Eisenhower Tunnel?
The toll is one of the funding options for state officials studying ways to ease congestion on Interstate 70. They expect the number of vehicles traveling through the tunnel to jump by ten million between now and 2025.
State transportation officials have come with nine different ways to ease traffic congestion, most of them calling for widening the highway.
Every one calls for a third hole at the tunnel.
Officials say without improvements, the recreation and tourism industry in a nine-county mountain area could drop as much as ten billion dollars by 2035.
The nine counties include Clear Creek, Eagle, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Lake, Park, Pitkin and Summit counties.
