The search for wreckage of a small plane that crashed into the Arkansas River and for the missing body of one of two people who had been aboard is called off for the night.
The aircraft crashed yesterday afternoon into the river near Little Rock National Airport. Police plan to pick up search efforts tomorrow morning.
Swift currents hampered the search for the two people traveling in the small plane from Colorado to Florida after the aircraft plunged into the water as it approached the fog-shrouded airport.
The body of 70-year-old Herbert Kirby of Monument (Colorado) was recovered by divers yesterday, but the other body and the plane itself haven't been sighted.
Kirby owned Kirby Fiberglass Incorporated in Pueblo (Colorado) and was flying to Florida on business, with a stop in Little Rock for fuel.
