The parents of a National Guardsman killed in Iraq say he liked the military and loved helping people, especially children and his family.

Armand Lance Frickey, age 20, and six other soldiers were killed Thursday by a roadside bomb outside Baghdad.

Frickey was with the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a native of Louisiana but his parents live in Denver.

Denise Frickey says her son's last request was to send him school supplies to give to children in Iraq.

She says her son was devoted to his wife and very close to his brother.

Denise Frickey also says her 6' 3", 230-pound son was, "a real soft touch."
