City Council has voted to pass a fee schedule for sex offenders.
It would require known sex offenders to pay $20 to register and be finger printed.
State law already requires sex offenders to re-register four times per year, but there's no money allocated to pay for it.
Police Chief Luis Velez says it costs the city about $90,000 per year to enforce the law.
A second reading of the proposal must be passed before the fee schedule has final approval.
