Fort Carson Lifts Newspaper Ban

Fort Carson has lifted its restrictions on The Denver Post after speaking with the newspaper's editor.

The move came Thursday---one day after an Army official said The Post would be barred from Fort Carson events because of a recent article.

The story in Sunday's edition of The Post focused on mentally and physically ill National Guard and Army Reserve members who say they've been denied quality care. They also said they're being pushed out of the service without disability pay.

Denver Post editor Greg Moore had said the article was balanced, and included quotes from Army officials.

But Lieutenant Colonel David Johnson said Army officials didn't believe they were given a fair chance to respond to the claims.
