A Canon City man will spend nearly 12 years in prison for hitting a teenager with his pickup truck and leaving her to die along the side of the road.
On Thursday, 46-year-old George Largent was sentenced on multiple convictions, including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while ability-impaired and tampering with evidence.
Last March, Largent struck 16-year-old Megan Terrill as she walked home from a friend's house. She had been drinking at the time. She died 9 days later.
Terrill's father was in court for the sentencing. “I don't necessarily agree with it. Just the fact that my daughter lost her life and all he gets is 11 and a half years,” said Mike Terrill.
Largent is eligible for parole in four years.
