Smoking will soon be banned in bars, restaurants and other public places in unincorporated Boulder County.
Boulder County commissioners voted 2-to-1 yesterday in favor of the countywide ban.
It will take effect December 18th.
The first violation carries a 100-dollar fine. The fine increases to 200 dollars for the second violation, and 500 dollars for the third.
Boulder County cities including Boulder, Longmont, Louisville and Superior already have similar bans.
The countywide ban now also includes the towns of Allenspark, Eldorado Springs, Gold Hill, Hygiene , Niwot and Pinecliffe.
