West Nile Virus Found At Denver Zoo

A Chilean flamingo at the Denver Zoo has tested positive for the West Nile virus.
Zoo associate veterinarian Jeff Baier says the 27-year-old flamingo is expected to recover. The bird was lethargic Monday afternoon and swaying, so zoo officials tested the animal. Results came back positive Thursday. The virus is mostly spread through mosquito bites. It first appeared in Colorado in horses and birds in August, and the first human case was reported last month. The flamingo is being kept indoors, but has not been quarantined.
