New Report Says Columbine Gunman Severely Depressed

A new report says that Columbine gunman Eric Harris told his probation officer that he suffered from homicidal and suicidal thoughts a year before the school massacre. The Rocky Mountain News is reporting that the teen's admissions led his Jefferson County probation officer to put him in an anger management class. Critics of Jefferson County authorities have said the teen killers gave ample warning of their potential for violence, and the 1999 school shootings could have been prevented. District Attorney Dave Thomas said he did not believe the juvenile diversion program had a legal obligation to report information such as Harris' suicidal and homicidal thoughts to
anyone else. Columbine parent Randy Brown says the new report supports calls for a full-scale investigation with subpoena powers of what happened at Columbine but Thomas says Brown's conclusion is a stretch.
