Air Force Academy Stronger?

The first woman to lead the Air Force Academy faculty says the school is stronger now.

Brigadier General Dana Born credits widespread reforms and a leadership shake-up brought on by a sexual assault scandal.

Born says "good things can come out of bad situations.'' She says the staff has to get smarter about how it views sexual assault and sexual harassment.

Last year, a survey of cadets found 22 percent did not believe women belonged at the academy, more than a quarter of a century after they were first admitted. However, a survey earlier this year says cadets have become more accepting of women.

Nearly 150 women came forward last year to say they had been
assaulted by fellow cadets, with many alleging they were punished
by commanders for speaking out.
