A new twist for Colorado's most famous unsolved murder: the 1996 death of JonBenet Ramsey. On CBS's "48 Hours" on Friday night, for the first time, viewers could see actual police videotape from interviews with the girl's parents. Police conducted the interviews with John and Patsy Ramsey in 1998.

Colorado Springs' former police and sheriff's investigator Lou Smit was one of the people who conducted those interviews. He believes the search for Jonbenet's killer is going in the wrong direction.

Smit says he has not seen the police videotapes since the day they were recorded. And he says he'd like to see this whole case revisited by the entire world if necessary. He strongly believes the Ramseys are innocent and an intruder killed the little girl. "There's a personality of a killer in the house that night... a very dangerous vicious person... and this personality doesn't belong to the Ramseys."

Smit also says he thinks the intruder theory has not been seriously considered by investigators. "There are people in Boulder at that time who could be looked at very closely," he says.

Smit has worked almost 6 years on the JonBenet Ramsey case. He's not taken a dime for it. And his belief is as strong as ever that the Ramseys were not involved in their child's murder.
