Illegal Tattoos

Updated: Thu 9:06 AM, Sep 19, 2002

Police in Pueblo are investigating a man they say has been giving illegal tattoos to kids. Health experts are worried.

They say the equipment being used was dirty, it was homemade, and the tattoos weren't given in a professional parlor.

Health officials say at least four young teens got tattoos from the same unsterilized equipment that was used on a number of adults.

Now, they're concerned about possible diseases being spread, like HIV, and Hepatitis B and C.

The state does regulate the tattoo industry, but enforcing the law can be tough.
