Colorado's top election official says she opposes an initiative on the November ballot that would allow people to register and vote on the same day.

Secretary of State Donetta Davidson says she thinks the proposal opens the door for fraud and human error.

Davidson says she doesn't want Colorado to become like Florida, where elections have been plagued with controversy.

Proponents of the change say it will not allow voter fraud.

“Yes on 30” campaign manager Stephen Saunders says supporters are simply pushing for as many eligible citizens as possible to exercise a basic constitutional right.

Davidson says she does not plan to take a position on any other ballot initiative, even though two others deal with election issues.
