Property Values

The lower values reflect damage to land and structures. More
than 500-thousand acres burned statewide.
The Jefferson County Assessor's Office is reducing value by 50
percent for property damaged in the 137-thousand acre Hayman Fire.
A landowner whose property was originally assessed at 100-thousand
dollars but who lost 20 percent of his acreage in the fire will
have 10-thousand dollars knocked off his property tax assessment.
The value of any structures that were burned also will be
subtracted.
Other counties are adjusting property values based on how
intensely the fire burned.
