Four Ft. Carson soldiers are charged with murder in the death of an Iraqi prisoner during an interrogation last year.

Sergeant First Class William Sommer, Specialist Jerry Loper, and
Chief Warrant Officers Jefferson Williams and Lewis Welshofer
Junior also are charged with dereliction of duty. They are accused in the death of Iraqi Major General Abed Hamed Mowhoush, who was smothered during interrogation November 26th in Iraq.

The soldiers were assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment
based at Fort Carson at the time.

Separately, two Fort Carson soldiers face charges in the alleged
drowning of an Iraqi civilian in January. Two other soldiers
received nonjudicial punishments in that case.
